Bembenek's lawyer Mary Woehrer said she died at a hospice care centre in Portland, Oregon, reports News.com.au.
Her flight resulted in supporters selling shirts and bumper stickers that read ‘Run Bambi Run’.Bembenek, an ex-cop, was convicted in 1982 of fatally shooting her police detective husband''s ex-wife and sentenced to life in prison.
Her story was made into a TV movie starring Tatum O'Neal.
